Unable to commit to a weekly choir group? The Basel Proms Chorus may be the perfect choice for you!

We stay active throughout the year, with weekend workshops in April, September, and October, and around six evening rehearsals on various week nights, from May until October, with a break in the month of July. Chorus members are encouraged to attend all workshops and as many rehearsals as possible.

Maija is a professional conductor and choir director, and is presently the musical co-director of the Camerata Basilea. She leads several choirs and conducts various ensembles in Switzerland and abroad. Born in Riga, Latvia, Maija now lives in Basel with her Swiss husband and two children.

David is our Principal conductor. He is based in London, and has over 25 years ́ experience working with choirs across the UK and around the world. He leads our workshops in Basel, and returns in November to conduct the show.

Under his skilful direction, we connect as an ensemble, and maximise our individual contributions to achieve a rich, resonant sound.
